2019 Chinese New Year Sets Available in Australia!

Last night some excellent news popped up on the LEGO Ambassador Network – the two stunning 2019 Chinese New Year sets are going to be available in Australia!

These sets are very different from the previous versions of Chinese New Year sets, and there’s more than one. These aren’t set for a worldwide release though – they’re exclusive to the Asia Pacific region, and will be released on January 1, 2019.

They’ll be a little trickier to get a hold of, but LEGO Australia has confirmed that they’ll be available at the following:

  • Myer
  • David Jones
  • LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne
  • LEGO Store Dreamworld
  • Outer Rim Trading Co.

Ok, here they are! You’ve probably seen them before, but here they are anyway! Images are from VJ Gamer and thanks to Rambling Brick for doing the legwork to check if we can get them! Another shout out to Bricking Around for the prices.

80101 Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (AU $89.99)

80101 Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner

This is an absolutely beautiful set, and chock full of amazing parts! The food on the table, the lanterns out the front, the windows! The table dressing looks excellent.

The food selection on the lazy susan is great, and I love the chopsticks and spoons. The designers have really put the effort in to this set. It looks like there’s dumplings, chicken, fish, crab, bok choy, spring rolls, and little bowls of rice.

There’s also the minifigure designs, which look spectacular, and all of those little red flowers. There’s a lot to like about this set, including the price! It’s very well priced – I was expecting over $100 for a set like this.

80102 Dragon Dance (AU $79.99)

This one has more stunning parts included – many of which are brand new. The traditional dragon dance is great to watch, and this set moves like the real deal, just like a JK Brickworks model! There’s also a few new elements, and some clever parts usage. The heart shaped tiles are new, and the clever use of parts is in the head – Unikitty tails for the moustache, and what looks like scorpions on the head behind the eyes!

The minifigures again look fantastic and highly detailed, and it’s great to get another Piggy Guy! What’s also exciting is that teal brick separator…so much goodness!

Are you hoping to find a copy of these sets? I certainly am!
