Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of LEGO with a Fan Vote!

This is huge – It’s LEGO’s 90th Anniversary next year, and they’ve asked fans to help them choose a classic theme to be reimagined as a single new product for the 2022 LEGO Adult Portfolio. They’ve created a list of 30 of the favourite classic LEGO themes for us to choose from, although there are a few that are missing (Fabuland or Western fans, I’m thinking of you).

How will the vote work?
Here’s what’s been taken from the LEGO Ideas website.

We will run this fan vote of all 30 themes from today the 17th of January 2021, to the 25th of January 2021. Then on February 3rd 2021, we will launch a second fan vote of the top three themes from this fan vote which will run until February 10th 2021. One of these three themes will be what the 90th Anniversary Set will be based on, but we still want to know what the most popular of the final three is!

So we won’t know what the result of the second vote is until 2022 when the set is released, but it will still be very interesting to watch. Here’s the list of themes available – you can see some images of a set from each theme at the LEGO Ideas blog.

I’m definitely going to be voting for Classic Space, as will a lot of other people, but I reckon Bionicle will do well, along with Pirates and Classic Castle. I don’t think Pirates will get to the final three as we’ve had the massive Pirates of Barracuda Bay recently, so people may want something different. Given how immensely popular Classic Space is, I think (and really hope) that will be the one that gets it.

This is going to be huge. Let me know what you’ll be voting for! You can vote from the LEGO Ideas website.
