Official Announcement of 21320 Dinosaur Fossils

LEGO has officially announced the next release under the LEGO Ideas banner – 21320 Dinosaur Fossils. I completely forgot about this one! Coming from the Dinosaurs Fossils Skeletons – Natural History Collection by Johnathan Brunn, it’s undergone a fairly significant amount of changes.

Gone are the five models in tan elements (the Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and the Plesiosaurus), and in come a Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops and Pteranodon. They look good! There’s also a paleontologist, and a minifigure skeleton. The three chosen dinos are great choices. I’m liking the looks of this one.

These models look like they are going to be a really fun build. I voted for the original set, but I have to say, these designs are a lot better. I hope Lego continues the series and finds ways of using the same building methods to do a Stegosaurus and a Broachiosaurus and maybe some of the others.

It is interesting Lego basically just ran with the idea of doing a group of dinosaurs and not anything of the modder’s methods. When Lego radically changed the ship in a bottle, I was really disappointed. I thought the original was much better and it was not nice that the Lego designer’s initials were on the bottle and not the modder.

Oh, well. This time I think we’ve got a great set. I’m looking forward to building it.
