Official Announcement of 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage

Dinosaur fans, rejoice, because something big is coming, and by big, I mean really big. Available from June 19, 2019 is 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage.

Containing 3120 pieces and costing US $249.99 / DE €249.99 / UK £219.99 / AU $399.99, this is one amazing set. It contains a massive Tyrannosaurus Rex, the even bigger Jurassic Park gate including some key scenes from the original movie, and six minifigures.

The six characters are John Hammond – Jurassic Park’s owner, Ian Malcolm – the mathematician played by Jeff Goldblum, Ellie Satler – the graduate student, Alan Grant – the paleontologist played by Sam Neill, Ray Arnold – the park’s chief engineer played by Samuel L. Jackson, and Dennis Nedry – the greedy computer programmer.

The minifigures look spot on, but easily the best one by far has to be Ian Malcolm in that now famous pose with his injured leg and shirt off. The minifigure is perfection! There’s even a place for him in the set. I love it!

There’s plenty of other excellent references to the movie, including Alan Grant inspecting a nest…

Ellie inspecting the pipes with a large torch…

75936

John Hammond’s dining room…

75936

Ray Arnold’s control room…

75936

a toilet (perfect for a T. Rex to chomp down on)…

75936

and a mud slide and shaving cream can for Dennis’ demise.

75936

The gate itself is massive, at over 40cm high, and looks awesome. This will definitely be an excellent display feature.

75936

The gate also has an opening and closing function. I love that there’s even the rail at the bottom, as well as tyre treads for the jeeps!

75936

It’s a shame there’s no jeep included, but it’s nice reference to the movie.

What everyone wants to see, though, is that dino, and it’s an absolute beauty.

75936

Measuring almost 70 cm long, with some serious poseability, this Tyrannosaurus rex is (finally) the first minifigure scale version, and it looks phenomenal.

75936

The shaping looks fantastic and I love that the tail is poseable, without having too many huge gaps in the joints. The detail inside the mouth in particular looks great.

75936

To finish it off, there’s also a minifigure stand, complete with some facts about the T. rex, and a little baby dinosaur just for kicks.

75936

All in all, this looks like an amazing set, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! Bring on June 19.

75936

Also, while this image is fantastic to get a sense of scale for the set, it’s a little weird. “Let me look at this set from a distance, slightly around a corner. Yep, it’s a beauty.” It’s like the guy is scared the T. rex is going to bite him. And why is the set so far away?

Anyway, the full press release and a few more images are below.
