LEGO has just announced the next big ticket set in the Marvel Super Heroes theme – 76215 Black Panther.
The set has 2,961 pieces, releasing October 1st for general sale. The set will cost US $349.99 / DE €349.99 / UK £299.99 / AU $549.99.
This life-size (yep) bust of T’Challa, the Black Panther will be a big addition to any Marvel superfan’s LEGO collection. It shows Black Panther in the iconic Wakanda Forever pose – arms crossed. The hands can also be removed to just show the bust itself.
The detailing looks good, however the eyes aren’t quite right. They need to be more angular – almost angrier. I really like the addition of the necklace as a separate item. Obviously the shaping and detailing is hard, even at this scale, so they’ve done a good job getting it as close as they can.
The biggest impact here (at least for us Aussies) is the price point. At $550, that’s a lot of cash. This is not a cheap set, and that LEGO price rise is noticeable. That being said, the set is still really unique, and a great tribute to a much loved character and actor in Chadwick Boseman.
