Well the cat is well and truly out of the bag with this one, with LEGO accidentally shipping some of these instead of the Lion Knight’s Castle yesterday, but here it is! The official announcement of 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition. It’s incredible, and something I didn’t realise was LEGO on the first look.
The simply amazing train set has 5129 pieces and 20 minifigures, releasing 31st August, 2022 for general sale. The set will cost US $499.99 / DE €499.99 / UK £429.99 / AU $799.99.

We’ve not really had a decent train set for a while, and this? Well this is more than decent. This is beautiful. It sits on a length of track, with a lever to turn at the top to get the driving wheels moving. The passenger carriage features light up bricks, and there’s also a portion of Platform 9 ¾, which can be moved around a bit too.
There’s also 20 minifigures included, spanning across four movies – The Philosopher’s Stone, The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Half-Blood Prince, and the last scene of Deathly Hallows Part 2. These are all able to be used to recreate four iconic scenes from the movies – when the main trio first meet, when Lupin saves Harry from the Dementor, when Luna saves Harry from Draco’s spell, and finally when Albus Severus Potter goes to Hogwarts.
The minifigures include:
- The Philosopher’s Stone – Harry, Ron and Hermione, plus the Train Conductor and the Trolley Witch
- The Prisoner of Azkaban – The trio plus Remus Lupin and a Dementor
- The Half-Blood Prince – Harry, Luna and Draco
- Deathly Hallows Pt 2 – Harry, Ginny, Albus Severus Potter, Lily Luna Potter, James Sirius Potter, a Ravenclaw student and a Hufflepuff student.
After last year’s 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition masterpiece, I’m really excited for this one, and am hoping there’s more to come. Wow.
