Official Announcement of 71043 Hogwarts Castle

We’ve just had the official images of LEGO Harry Potter 71043 Hogwarts Castle become available on LEGO’s servers, and I’ve got to say, it looks brilliant! It’s due for release on August 15th, with no mention of early access. This date may be the VIP date, as the LEGO Shop Online states September 1 as general release.

I hope you’re sitting down, or at least holding on to something, because as you probably expected, it’s not cheap. It will set you back US $399.99 / DE 399.99€ / UK £349.99. For the Aussies, it’s a crazy AU $649.99!

The full press release is below, with more details, including a list of the 27 included microfigures! I’m very excited about this set.

It’s massive, and all in microscale! Weighing in at 6020 pieces, it’s the second biggest set ever, sitting behind 75192 Millenium Falcon. This is a serious set, and something a lot of fans were hoping we’d get. While their hopes may not have been for a microscale version, it’s still very exciting. There is just so much to look at! Five buildable boats, that beautiful rockwork, the Dementors flying overhead, and the angles of the building!

By the looks of things, there’s plenty of detail inside. I love the tiny little trees! There’s so much to like in this. Below are the images one by one.

A tiny Hungarian Horntail. It’s great that he can attach to the roof.

Potions Room…or is this the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom? It looks like there’s going to be a lot of stickers in this set.

The Mirror of Erised. It’s a shame the students are dressed in black. It doesn’t quite look right.

The Chamber of Secrets, complete with the basilisk (at a perfect scale!)…

The Room of Requirement…

The Whomping Willow, with a Ford Anglia…

The Grand Staircase, which moves, by the looks of things!

I’m guessing this is the Gryffindor Common Room…

An underground chamber with the winged keys that guarded the Philosopher’s Stone…

We’ve also got the four founders of Hogwarts – Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw! It’s a brilliant addition.

I reckon this is Dumbledore’s Office, with what might be a pensieve?

The majestic Great Hall. I love the stained glass! This is my favourite room. It’s brilliantly executed.

Dolores Umbridge’s office…

The Chessboard Chamber…

Hagrid’s Hut, with Aragog.

And the Library…
