It’s not often I review polybags, but when The LEGO Group requests it, I’m happy to oblige! Early this year TLG decided to release a new line of accessory products under the name of Xtra. They’re a series of polybags and playmats, and they’re an incredibly affordable way to boost details in your city. This one, 40341 Sea Accessories, isn’t available yet – it will be available for purchase from January 15.
It contains a few animals, as well as some other nice inclusions. There’s not a lot of building, with only the bouy and the spears to be assembled, so there’s no instructions included.
While the chest and clam shell (with the little starfish element) are very standard, the parrot is quite rare. It’s only appeared in one set so far – 10255 Assembly Square. Next year, it’ll also appear in 10264 Corner Garage, as well as this one. It looks stunning.
The remainder of the elements are pretty standard. The fish has only appeared in the last couple of years, but has appeared a fair bit. The rest of the set includes a 2×2 printed map, binoculars, gemstones, a lime green surfboard and flippers, a little bouy, and a barrel with a paddle and spears.
Interestingly, the front of the bag shows that there is only one spear, but there’s enough in the bag to build two. This little set is extremely simple, and a good option if you want to flesh out your displays, especially if you have a beach or ocean area in your display. I’d recommend picking some up on January 15, when they become available.
A special thank you to LEGO for sending me a copy to review. All thoughts on this set are my own and are not influenced in any way, shape or form. The provision of sets for review does not guarantee a favourable review.
